Description
Aluminum sulfate is an inorganic chemical compound with the formula Al2(SO4)3. It is a white, sometimes slightly gray or pinkish powder that dissolves in water, forming an acidic solution. It is widely used in industry, mainly in: water purification, as a coagulant to help remove impurities, and in the paper industry to clarify solutions and harden paper. Aluminum sulfate is also used as a leather tanning agent and in medicine (as an adjuvant in vaccines in small amounts). Aluminum sulfate requires caution in handling, as it can be irritating to the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract.
